Creating or joining affiliate marketing programs is the best method of conducting online home businesses today. The affiliate earns a certain sum of money for advertising a company’s products or services on his website, thus generating leads for the company through various types of advertising. Merchants or advertisers can reward affiliates or publishers in one of many ways, as mentioned below:

·   Pay per click
The publisher or the affiliate will be paid each time a visitor clicks on the advertiser’s ad on his site. The visitor need not purchase anything. The mere act of clicking on the ad pays the publisher an amount of money.

·   Pay per lead

The publisher is compensated each time he generates a lead for the advertiser. Some visitors may decide to sign up for the company’s services, such as their newsletters or join their mailing list. The publisher is paid for helping to create that lead for the company through his website.

·   Pay per call
Here, the affiliate is paid per call he makes to people, which turns them into customers and helps generate sales for the company. This is a relatively new technique, which is not really in vogue at present.

·   Pay per sale
This is one of the most paying aspects of affiliate marketing. Here, the affiliate is paid per sales he performs on the company’s product. If a visitor to his site purchases anything from the merchant’s website, the affiliate is paid a good percentage of those sales.

Affiliate marketing is one of the most popular online businesses today. There are a lot of new entrants into the field everyday, so that makes for tough competition. But if the affiliate is good at his job and manages to establish himself, he can actually mint money from his affiliate marketing programs, all this, just by working from home!
