By: Perry Manzani

Chicago is one of those memorable cities in North America that you never forget visiting. The wide range of nationalities of people that live in this city is overwhelming and rivals the diversity that can be found in other major cities, such as Los Angles and New York.

It's this wide diversity of people that gives Chicago its wide variety of culture and arts. No where else in America can you find the jazz and blues that permeates this city. This combination of culture and diversity also creates a culinary circle in the city that leaves nothing to the imagination. With so much going for it, you'll want to make sure that you include Chicago on your list of cities to visit.

There are many attractions in Chicago that you won't want to miss. One of these attractions is the Art Institute of Chicago. You'll be able to spend a few hours looking at art and sculpture from the last 5000 years. The huge collection of postimpressionist and impressionist paintings are a must while you're at the museum. Don't forget to get your picture taken beside the lions outside the museum.

A good way to truly experience the lifestyle of any city is to visit its neighborhood. One such area is Lincoln Park, which is famous for its Biograph Theater, site of the John Dillinger shootout by FBI in 1934. This neighborhood never sleeps and reflects the spirit of Chicago. At all times you can find people strolling, walking, running, cycling or even rollerblading among the hustle and bustle of a busy city life.

Other attractions in this neighborhood include the Lincoln Zoo, which is free to the public. Visit with the gorillas and chimpanzees before checking out the more uncommon animals, such as the Galapagos turtle and poisonous spiders from around the world. A big hit at this zoo is when the chimpanzees come out to draw for you. Some of the art created by the chimpanzees has been sold around the world.

Of course, a visit to Chicago isn't complete without a walk along the Magnificent Mile, the avenue that leads from Lincoln Park to the Chicago River. This stretch of road is famous with shopping enthusiasts who search for either bargain or a boutique. The Tribune Tower stands along the Magnificent Mile and deserves some inspection. The tower, built in 1925, is known for its gothic beauty which is still astounding even today. The base of the Tribune is studded with rocks brought back by newspaper reporters from around the world.

Besides the zoo, Chicago also boasts of one of the earliest aquariums with world's largest marine and aquatic animals collections, the Shedd Aquarium, built in 1929, popular among kids. You can have look at marine life such as penguins, dolphins, beluga whales, harbor seals, moray eel & quiet nurse shark. There are as many as 500 variety of tropical fish here.

Wrigley Field is synonymous with Chicago. The baseball field of the century draws visitors year round to walk the park and get a feel for the game. Just a few pictures to show baseball fans will quickly make you the object of envy.

No matter what time of the year that you visit Chicago you'll always be able to find something to do. The winter months can be a bit cold and snowy but that's what gives Chicago its charm and reputation.
