For a Great Time, Vacation in Arkansas!

You may not know that much about Arkansas, although it's a state known as a terrific vacation spot. There are a lot of outdoor activities to enjoy and for art lovers there are many theaters and galleries to visit. There is probably more to do in Arkansas than you ever imagined.

Arkansas is known as the natural state, and for good reason. With over 600,000 acres of water Arkansas is the beach lover's paradise. There are plenty of opportunities to swim, boat, water ski, parasail, fish, scuba dive, and even house boat. With so many lakes there is no shortage of choices and each lake is a beautiful tribute to the state of Arkansas.

Maybe you are a landlubber who would rather be in the higher elevations. In Arkansas, you can hike, camp, or drive the many hills and mountains. You'll see all kinds of terrain. Also check out the caves and underground caverns. Arkansas is filled with incredible scenery and natural wonders.

Golf is also a great activity to take part in while visiting Arkansas. There are many world class golf courses throughout the entire state that offer great vacation packages. The Arkansas landscape offers beautiful scenic courses to enjoy nine or eighteen holes of golf.

Arkansas has a very rich legacy of civil war battlefields and American history. The art and history buffs can spend days soaking in the offerings of numerous museums and historic heritage sites.

The many festivals will have you feeling like a native. One of the favorite festival types in Arkansas is the harvest, celebrating watermelons, peaches, and tomatoes. You can find great foods to whet your appetite, like steak, chili con carne, and even some ethnic foods, such as Greek. Food aficionados are sure to find their favorite delectables at Arkansas festivals.

There are also a number of music festivals that take place in Arkansas. The King Biscuit Blues Festival is a fabulous outdoor festival and is one of the largest in all of the United States. You can enjoy several days of world class blues music from all around the world. If blues isn't your thing there are music festivals that feature rock and roll, jazz, classical, and even opera.

While Arkansas favours the southern style of cooking, foodies can take delight in a wide variety from Asian fusion to Russian. The restaurants are available to suit each pocket and taste. You can select between a fancy five star restaurant or a chilli con carne cook-off.

After all this fun you may be ready for a couple of relaxing days. Arkansas has plenty of spas to help you feel refreshed and rejuvenated. Some of the spa resorts offer great packages where you can feel pampered like royalty. Spend a day getting massages, facials, and even attend a yoga class to sooth the soul.

As you can see Arkansas is a state that has something for everyone. Whether you are drawn in by the fabulous luxury spas and restaurants or the natural beauty that can be found around every corner, Arkansas makes a wonderful vacation for anyone.
