Getting More Out Of Text Link Ads

Many website owners are happy to make a trickle of money for their efforts, but others really want to push the envelope. If you fall into the latter category, you're not alone. To achieve a higher level of success, a lot of publishers turn to Text Link Ads. This can be a great option, but a little strategy should come into play to really make these ads pay handsomely.

Text Link Ads is an established online company that gives publishers and advertisers a place to buy and sell ads. Its affiliate program is one that can pay out fantastically to those who know how to work it to their advantage. Publishers can earn $25 a referral when other publishers or advertisers sign up for the program. TLA pays out when publishers run ad scripts for at least a seven-day period. The program also pays out when a referred advertiser buys an ad. Payments from TLA tend to run like clockwork. They come via mail or PayPal on a monthly basis.

This all sounds great on the surface, and it really can pay off, but there are things publishers can do to make the program pay out more than a trickle here and a trickle there. The key lies in the strategy used to entice readers of your site to click through and act. Since just sending readers to the TLA site isn't enough to earn the fat $25 payout per referral, it makes sense to work the program to your advantage.

One of the best ways publishers can increase their click through potential is to make sure TLA ad placement is good. Having these ads in visible locations is a good idea. Even including a second link on the same page can help. This is especially so if one ad is a box or banner and the other is a basic text link.

Better ad placement is, of course, important, but there are other steps that can be taken to increase earning chances. Targeting the right visitors for conversions can also be important. Since publishers must sign up, gain approval and then run the ad script for the set number of day, they very likely should not be your focus. Target the advertisers instead.

There are a host of things you can do to increase the actual commissions. They fall into three major categories: ad placement, overcoming the "invisible" banner and self-promotion.

It's a simple fact that if you want your TLA affiliate program to succeed, people need to see the ads. Ideas for improving ad placement include adding TLA text links and box ads to the bottom of each post or page, ramping up onsite ad placement, linking to your referral link in your "links" section. Making sure ads are rotated out can also be rather helpful. To make sure your ad set up works, ask friends and family to critique the site. Knowing what others see can provide useful information for tweaking. It's also possible to create TLA landing pages for the affiliate referral link.

Getting visitors who are immune to banner ads to actually see them can be another major blocking point. Creating personalized banners that don't necessarily tout TLA, but link to information on it, can be a good way to go. So too can adding recommendation pages that are linked to from the banner ads on your site. Also, creating presell pages can be a wise idea.

Promoting your TLA affiliate program is often one of the best ways to go. Some publishers use Adwords to send visitors to their presell pages, they buy forum signatures with their links included and they even hire bloggers to post about the program and include their referral links. Others create online activities to generate excitement.

Promotions alone can drive in traffic, but other steps might be necessary to increase conversion rates. Some of the better ideas here include running contests for those who sign up for TLA using your affiliate links, giving some form of cash back for each person who signs up or even providing free advertising via links on your site. The ideas here are many. Creativity can really pay off.

TLA's affiliate program is one that can pay out a great deal if it's worked to its best advantage. Taking the time to make sure ads are visible and that visitors are enticed to act can go a long way toward increasing revenues. It might take a little time, but the returns can be well worth it.
