Las Vegas- The Betting Capital Of The World

By: Winifred Hawden

Las Vegas is the ultimate place for fun, sun, and tons of excitement. No wonder, it is the most popular holiday destination in the United States. It has fabulous shows, luxurious hotels, excellent restaurants, and a myriad of activities for all ages of visitors from all corners of the world.

Although Las Vegas is getting away from its kid-friendly look of years past, the city in the desert is still a top family destination. If your kids are looking for something different, head to Las Vegas! Whether it’s the thrilling rides perched atop the Stratosphere to the gorgeous white tigers of the Mirage, there are activities and items in Vegas everyone will enjoy.

Even though families can enjoy Vegas, the city’s main draw is for the adult crowd. With the great slogan, “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” as the city’s new advertising campaign more adults than ever are flocking to the oasis city. Furthermore, the bright lights and good times are often too strong of a lure for visitors to pass.

The main reason why people make the trip to Vegas is for gambling. The city’s main attraction is definitely the one-arm bandits, roulette wheels, and card games, along with other adult friendly activities. If you are planning to hit the tables or any other gambling event, be sure to use careful moderation in order to prevent any problems on your way home. If necessary, designate a predetermined amount of money for gambling and also set up a cut off point. This will prevent you from the temptation of overspending.

Vegas is a great destination for those on a budget, since flights and transportation are generally affordable and there are a great many things to do in the city that cost nothing at all! Get a front row spot for the famous Bellagio dancing fountains or head to historic downtown Vegas to view the Fremont Street Experience light and music extravaganza.

The restaurants of Vegas are a must see for the food junkies. These restaurants boast of the most famous chefs in the culinary world and the clubs are the most extravagant. These clubs are visited by the most happening crowd of the young and the famous.

The latest additions to the list of excitement in Vegas are its cultural events. No longer Vegas is only about lights, gambling and excitement. Just visit the Bellagio, where you find excellent art exhibits including those of the legendary Picasso in the Picasso Restaurant, where of his most famous works are exhibited.

Indeed your vacation in Las Vegas is not complete without the great shows such as the mind blowing Circ du Soleil and the fantastic performances by today's hottest singers, including the extraordinary Celine Dion. While the teenagers will enjoy the always fun Blue Man Group and an array of mysterious magicians the adult crowd would not like to miss a more risque show like the Australian Review, the Thunder from Down Under or a world class comedian.
