Travel to Cleveland

By: Dwayne Shepperd

Cleveland is in the state of Ohio right next to Lake Erie. You won't be short of activities if you decide to visit. There are all kinds of events, festivals and attractions.

If you like action, consider all the water sports and other activities for you to partake of. Lake Erie is the place to find sun in summer and lots of fun things to do on, in, and near the water.

In addition to the fun outdoors, there are lots of museums to capture the attention indoors, museums dedicated to art, history, culture, even the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. Cleveland also boasts an interesting downtown area, with trendy boutiques, cafes, and exciting nightlife spots. For the romantics, a cruise along the shoreline during warm weather is lovel experience.

If the whole family is along then consider a day trip to Aurora and visit the Six Flags Worlds of Adventure Amusement Park. There you will find a water park, a marine park, and the always adventurous fun park. Cleveland also has wonderful theater productions. Stop by Playhouse Square and you'll see four of their most gorgeous theaters. Each one offers a number of productions every year. A must see is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. You will learn more than you imagined possible about North American rock legends.

Allow enough time to see some of the museums and art galleries throughout the city of Cleveland. Both the Cleveland Natural History Museum and the Cleveland Museum of Art will allow you to spend some time away from more hectic activities. The Cleveland Museum of Art dates back to 1913. It permanently houses pieces by Monet, Degas, Renoir, and Van Gogh, among others. You and the children will love the Great Lake Science Center as you partake in hours of hands-on activities and exhibits. If you long for a quiet afternoon, stop by the Cleveland Botanical Gardens. You can wander the paths seeing and smelling the beautiful plants and flowers.

The Cleveland Metropark Zoo is one of the last must-sees that you'll have to make time for before leaving the city. This zoo is the seventh oldest zoo in the United States and is home to a multitude of animals in their natural settings. You can visit the many specialized exhibits, which includes the Rainforest exhibit and the Australian Adventure exhibit. No matter what time of the year that you visit Cleveland you'll find that there is plenty to keep you busy.
