Pups Information

Hamster pups should not be touched by the pet owner during the first week after they are born. To help the mother in raising her young pups, do not disturb the cage or attempt to clean the cage during this first week.

Baby hamsters will begin to eat solid food around day 10 and are usually no longer dependent on their mother after three weeks of age. When hamsters begin eating solid food, it is recommended that they are given water saturated pellets placed on the floor of the hamster cage. Baby hamsters also need lots of clean fresh water. Be sure to position the water dispenser low enough so that the smallest of the litter can reach the sipper tube.
