I have noticed this winter how the harsh cold can make life uncomfortable for indoor dogs. All over the United States this winter we’ve had excessive cold and snow. Here in the mountain west we have had a continual snow, melt, snow cycle going on for weeks.

A few things I’ve done this winter have seemed to help the old pup stay warm. First I’ve been very aware of the outside temperature and kept a close eye on how much time she spends outdoors. When it’s time to come in, I’ve had a dry towel ready to wipe her down (to keep the house clean, but also to help her warm up faster). Usually after a quick outdoor potty run, I’ll provide fleece blanket for her to wrap up in to warm up until she decides it’s time to scurry out and play some sock tug-o-war.
