Looking for a great family pet to give the kids for Christmas? Consider a Miniature Schnauzer dog. They are loving, intelligent, energetic, affectionate, and obedient. They are great with children. They are a very happy and playful dog. They socialize well and make great companions even for adults.

Schnauzers are part of the Terrier group. They were originally bred for catching mice and make great guard dogs. The dog usually weighs between 10-15 pounds and grows to a height of 12-14 inches. The breed sheds little or no hair and would fit well into a family with allergies.

From my experience having owned two Schnauzers, the love to go on walks and enjoy the outdoors. They age well and are playful even as they get older. Their life expectancy is about 15 years.
