Bull Of Fire – How Do You Like Your Steak? Medium, Rare Or Still Alive And On Fire?

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

How would you like your steak? Medium, rare or perhaps still on fire while it’s alive? I hope that caught your attention for I want to acquaint you with an event which occurs in the second week of November every year in the picturesque township of Medinaceli in the province of Sorla, Spain. Incidently, the population of Medinaceli is just over one hundred.

Each year the locals celebrate a “tradition” called “Toro Jubilo” which when translated means Bull of Fire. Almost sounds like a drink, doesn’t it? This is a great form of entertainment and eagerly anticipated by all in the township. All but one. Yes, you guessed it – the bull.

The bull is led out onto the streets of Medinaceli where balls of pitch, a black sticky substance made from tar or turpentine are liberally stuck onto his horns. They are then set on fire, and much to the delight of the crowd. The bull, who at this stage is consumed with fear runs to escape the pain as the pitch keeps burning, trickles down his face and into his eyes. He is in great pain and has no idea where he is running. All he wants to do it stop the pain and the fear. He runs into walls and other objects whilst all the time the local villagers scream with delight. He is taunted by the villagers, and all the while the pitch continues to drop off and burn on to his body. No matter where he goes, he cannot escape his tormentors, the pain or the fire. Yes, this is a real crowd pleaser and the pitch burns for hours. Of course, you know what happens to the bull.

It is time to stop this barbaric practice and I hope you are sufficiently disgusted enough to want to do something about it. If you go to the internet there is a site where you can add your voice and send a letter to the Mayor. The bull cannot speak but we can. bull animal welfare animal rights spain cruelty fire

Whilst on the subject of Spain I would also like to tell you of another celebration which takes place in the township of Tordesillas. The celebration is known as Toro Tordesillas. Once again it involves a bull which is taken to the outskirts of the township and once again the residents of the township look forward to this entertainment. The bull is set free but immediately the jeering crowd start throwing lances, rocks and anything they can lay their hands on at the bull, who of course is in a state of panic. What has he done to deserve this? What terrible crime has he committed? After hours of being stabbed, bloodied and bruised and with no strength left, the bull collapses. Whilst lying there in pain, he is set upon by the villagers who must now satisfy their blood lust. Whilst he is alive, his tail is cut off folowed by his testicles. Naturally the person who carries out these attrocities is considered a “hero” as he proudly carries them aloft for all to see. He is cheered by the crowd.

You may find this hard to believe but this horrific ritual is considered to be a tourist attraction! It is supported by the Catholic church and the murder of this bull is to honour the Virgin de la Pena. These traditions are legal in Spain, it seems you can commit any type of animal cruelty without fear of retribution.

So, you ask, what can one person do? You can send a letter to your local Spanish Embassy expressing your outrage at the barbaric and inhumane practices carried out in Spain. The animals cannot speak, all they can do is scream out in pain. We have to be their voice. bull

You will hear from me again. I am no sadist and these acts of torture upset me immensely. I will be telling you more horror stories because we all need to be aware of the plight of animals who need our help.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Together we can all make this a better world to live in.

Stocking Fillers That Are The Dog’s

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Looking for last minute Xmas gifts?Perhaps it’s a case of novelty stuff to use as stocking fillers?Don’t stick with the usual novelty that bruises the Satsuma or the crisp red apple in the toe!Get imaginative and creative with your stocking fillers and give gifts that will generate a wow factor and keep you in the good books!

Christmas gifts for pet lovers are notoriously difficult.Do you buy for the moggie or pooch or do you get a pet-related goodie for the doting owner?People who treat their animals as almost human and describe themselves as the dog or cat’s “mummy” or “daddy” clearly lack understanding of the human reproductive system. The ideal gift would be something that panders to the almost parental obsession some people have that their dog or cat is “really clever” and “only hides in the bedroom furniture for meditation purposes”, with fantastic stocking fillers tailored to that anthropomorphic delusion. But how to prove that without photographic evidence of your dog actually completing the crossword or finding scribbled chess moves in his basket? Where’s the video of the pooch driving (a Rover presumably)! No, you need to find out once and for all if your mutt is top dog in the brain department so you can justify your claims for his intelligence!

Gifts for him who is convinced he can talk to the animals and wants to answer that burning question come no better than “How Smart is your Dog?” It’s a self-scoring intelligence test developed by a genuine Canadian psychology professor. Carefully designed and researched tests will determine the Canine Intelligence Quotient (CIQ) of your mutt. Five of the tests cover problem solving, while the other seven deal with learning ability and memory. With a test book, score and result guide, and a stopwatch for timing the results, this IQ Test has everything you need to prove that your dog’s not stupid. The only disadvantage is the worrying possibility that the dog might end up with a higher IQ score than you!

Ferrets Make Great Pets

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

Dogs and cats are not the only popular uncaged animals kept in world today. The ferret is also becoming very popular. This is a very interesting fact when you consider that this animal is only legal in certain parts of the world and that many people know very little about it. Many people who have not had much experiace with the animal mistakenly consider it to be a bit of a wild beast. Well, that could carry a bit of truth to it at times, but those who own ferrets just know it to be a part of their much loved personality.

Others consider ferrets to be much like cats. With their tiny faces and long tails, that is easily understood. In fact, a ferret does share similarities with the cat kind. Perhaps this is why the two usually make fast friends. If you have cats as pets already and you add ferret pets to the brood, you will likely be entertained for hours on end with their fun and games.

If you have yet to decide to bring home a ferret as your new pet, informing yourself of their characteristics and needs will help you be prepared for all they have to offer. One of the most important things about having ferrets as pets is understanding the time they need from you. Ferrets are social animals. If you have another animal such as a dog or a cat, or another ferret, this will do well for all of your pets and alleviate some of the time commitment you must make. Ferrets love love love to play! These little guys will play for up to four hours a day. Providing them with enough stimulation will prevent problem behaviors that will negatively impact your relationship with your ferret.

Ferrets should have regular check ups from the vet and maintain their vaccinations. Additionally, Female ferrets (”jills”) must mate or they will die. Their bodies, if not taken out of heat through mating or if they are not spayed, will develop aplastic anemia. This is fatal to your female ferret ferrets, ferret care,.
Much like many animals, ferrets should have their nails clipped short. De-clawing is not recommended and not seen as humane treatment. When building a home for your ferret, it is recommended that it be located inside the home. Ferrets are susceptible to respiratory infections as well as excessive heat. Keeping your ferret pets in an outdoor cage will likely expose them to disease and sickness.

Keeping your ferret indoors is recommended. This way they can be with the family every day and stay in better health. Because they can be trained to use a litter box, you can rest assured that your ferret pet will not soil your carpets and walls. Care must be taken to be consistent while litter training in order to produce the best result, but with that done, your ferret can roam freely throughout your home.

When your ferretpets, ferrets,: is allowed to have access to the house, just be sure to lock cabinets and properly store any containers of chemicals. Remember, ferrets are great as pets, but their curious nature must be watched over with care.more articles at.http://ferrets.net16.net
