Different Sorts Of Toys For Ferrets
For anybody who owns a ferret or has owned one, they will be well aware of their playful nature. In order to satisfy their needs its important that you provide them with a sufficient range of toys for them to have at their disposal. Ferrets will play with just about anything and there you will need to consider toys that will last a little while without breaking or falling apart. Failing to provide this range of toys will cause your ferrets to seek out alternative items for their entertainment. Your own possessions will then be at risk from their mischievous acts.
One serious problem for ferrets is swallowing a part that has broken off one of the toys. Getting your hands on sturdy toys that are likely to last longer and will not break apart is important. For toys that you have had for a while, inspect them and throw them out if no longer suitable.
There are loads of options for fun and safe toys for your ferret. Toys intended for cats can be very entertaining for ferrets. Plastic balls can be carried around and rolled about whilst balls with bells that make a noise or more cuddly balls made from fleece are perfect.
Ferrets also love to climb through things. Therefore larger balls with holes in them and tubes and piping can be bought that the ferrets will love. You can easily get your hands on boxes and paper bags for the ferrets to climb on and rip up. Avoid using plastic bags as these can quite easily suffocate a ferret.
Other sorts of toys that hang from ropes are also very good for ferrets to jump and climb on. It is important however that you keep an eye on them particularly if the ropes are thin and can strangle them.
Certain toys made for babies are also suitable. Things like rattles are good. Also look out for soft plastic toys that squeak. For sleeping in, also look for cloth bags and perhaps place small soft towels or mats inside to make it extra comfortable for the ferrets.
There are also many toys you need to avoid as they can cause harm. Rubber toys can easily be chewed up by their sharp teeth and then swallowed causing them to choke. Toys which have loose parts are also not sensible to purchase as they may become detached and can be eaten. Loose threads on the softer toys can also cause the same problem. If you start to see any of these sorts of issues then get rid of the toy as soon as possible.
Make sure that you provide a good range of toys for your ferrets and rotate them on regular occasions. This will prevent them from getting too bored with the same old toys and from moving onto your own possessions for their entertainment. Providing your ferrets with a wide range of different toys for them to play with will also provide you with great amusement and fun, allowing your ferrets to express themselves in amusing and inventive ways.
