Q&A: Has anyone ever used a flea powder called “Zema Z3 Flea & Tick Powder for Dogs”?
Question by shogun_warlord_07: Has anyone ever used a flea powder called “Zema Z3 Flea & Tick Powder for Dogs”?
This stuff sounds very dangerous. Here is what the label says about it: “Hazards to Humans: Harmful if inhaled. Avoid breathing dust. Avoid contact with skin, eyes or clothing. Wash thoroughly with soap & water after handling and before eating, drinking, chewing gum, or using tobacco. Remove & wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Avoid contamination of food or foodstuffs. Hazards to Domestic Animals: For use on Dogs & Puppies. Do not use on puppies under 12 weeks of age. Do not reapply more often than once every 3 days. Take care not to get the powder in the animal’s eyes, nose or mouth. Consult a veterinarian before using this product on debilitated, aged, medicated, pregnant or nursing animals. Sensitivities may occur after using ANY pesticide product for pets. If signs of sensitivity occur, bathe your pet with mild soap and rinse with large amounts of water. If signs continue, consult a veterinarian immediately.” My concern is that if my dog “grooms” himself he will become ill.
The label also indicates that inhalation could cause respiratory arrest. It also says that the bedding should also be treated. But when my dog lays on his blanket, won’t he be breathing some of the powder?

I have never used it, but I have seen it. An old country vet here uses it. I think it comes from the hardware store. It is just pyrethrins, isn’t it? It doesn’t work very well because many times people come into the clinic wanting something better.
